Important ILDS Study June 3-7, 2013

During the week of June 3-7, we will be conducting an important study of turnaround times on ILDS and we need your help. We will be tracking individual bags between various ILDS academic library stops and between IHLS and RAILS service centers. We will select a sample of next week’s daily outgoing ILDS manifests that are generated from the labels you create every day. From the selected manifests, we will identify a few individual bags for tracking. Then we will ask the destination library or service center to let us know when the bag arrives at its intended destination.

What we are asking you to do:

  • If we select your location as the sending library of a target bag, we will ask you to verify that the bags on a particular day’s manifest were, in fact, picked up by Lanter on the indicated date.
  • If we select a bag that you are to receive, we will provide you with the specific bag label and ask you to send us an email indicating the date that bag is received at your library.

This study will comprise a sample of all the bags in transit across the state, into and out of Chicago, and between System service centers. You may not be asked to participate at all, but if you are asked to help us, we will only ask you to locate and report on a very small number of ILDS bags.

If your institution (ILDS direct stops only) will be unable to participate in our study during the week of June 3-7, please contact Tom Dorst.

Thanks in advance for helping us maintain and improve ILDS.
