Paper Label Changes for Community Delivery Partnership (CDP)

Beginning the week of December 21, CARLI will be introducing a change to the ILDS paper label. We have added a line under Final Destination at the top of the label to include Community Delivery Partnership (CDP) Delivery Information. When sending an item to a library that receives its delivery as part of a CDP, include the location where delivery is received on the CDP Delivery Information (TO) line. Information for where to send an item for a library participating in a CDP has been added to L2. For example, when sending an item to the library at the Fairfield Elementary School District #112, the school name should be written on the Final Destination (For) line, Fairfield Public Library should be written on the CDP Delivery Information (To) line, and ZCA should be circled on the left side of the label. What is a CDP?

A Community Delivery Partnership (CDP) comprises an agreement between two or more ILLINET member libraries to have all library materials requested by a patron of any participating library delivered to a single designated location. As of March 2015, there are 212 partnerships operating across Illinois. There are 131 CDP's in the Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS) with 356 libraries participating and 81 CDP's in the Illinois Heartland Library System (IHLS) with 182 participants. The benefits of a CDP include more frequent service to many libraries, so that materials requested by your patrons will get into their hands more quickly. The goal is to offer 5 day per week service to all libraries participating in a CDP. Service will be consistent and reliable. That will allow you to promote resource sharing with confidence. The materials your library lends to users elsewhere in the state will be returned and put back on your shelves more quickly. More information can be found about CDP’s on the Illinois State Library’s web site.
