CARLI ILDS Training Webcasts
CARLI will provide training for the new ILDS system by webcasts on June 24 and June 27. Each webcast will run approximately 90 minutes and each will cover the same material. Advance registration is required for the webcasts. The registration form is available at http://www.illinoisdelivers.net/train/080624train/.
The webcasts will be held at the following times:
For those unfamiliar with webcasts, the system allows a remote presenter to display a presentation to a geographically distributed audience via the audiences’ computers. CARLI uses a system called Horizon Wimba Live Classroom (Wimba, for short), which you may be familiar with from WebJunction. Audio is provided by a telephone conference call. So, to participate you will need a PC with a web browser; and a telephone, preferably with a speaker phone. You may also wish to use a computer projector if you want to gather a group of staff together to watch the presentation. Please review and complete the detailed setup instructions on the next page well in advance of your session.
Note that due to the caller limits on our conference call system, each session will be limited to 29 callers. If multiple members of your library staff plan to participate as a group using a shared speakerphone, they only need to register as one participant. If your staff will connect from separate phones, please register one person for each phone connection.
Please register at least 24 hours in advance of the session by completing the registration form. After completing the web form, the confirmation message will provide you information about the url for the webcast and the conference call number. We will also resend this to you in email the day before the webcast.
CARLI uses the Wimba webcast system. As far in advance of the webcast as possible, please make sure you can access the Wimba system. Instructions for setting up access to both the web connection to Wimba and the conference call connection for audio are available at http://www.illinoisdelivers.net/wimbaprep.html.
- Tuesday, June 24, 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
- Friday, June 27, 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
